The meeting commenced at 7:00 p.m.

Jill Allen answered questions from the group from 7:00 until approximately 7:30.

Deanna Sterling discussed her plans for inviting all UOAC chapters without a web site to join forces with LDOA and share web space so that they, too, may have an online presence. Starting with Stratford, Windsor, Sarnia and Sault Ste. Marie, Deanna indicated she will approach each chapter's president and ask if they would like to join LDOA's site and have a section set aside solely to their specific chapter. She will implement this plan over the next couple of weeks.

As well, Deanna announced that the  Discussion Forum   was officially launched on October 16, 2003. There won't be many messages posted just yet, but that will change in the days and weeks to come as Deanna begins promoting LDOA's web site worldwide. Yes, LDOA is going global!

Guest speaker, Megan Crocket, a pharmacist from Shoppers Drug Mart (190 Wortley Road, London) gave an enlightening speech about  IBD (Infammatory Bowel Disease), Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis, the topical treatments and prescribed drugs used in relation to the above, and the most common side effects related thereto.

Guest speaker, Rosemarie Smith, owner of  Weir Comfees, spoke about her line of ostomate apparel, bringing with her many of the items of clothing and accessories her company carries. What makes Weir Comfees ostomate apparel unique in that all of the undergarments, shorts, pants and bathing suits have an inner pocket which provides a barrier between the pouch and the skin. The pocket holds the pouch securely, providing comfort and support while preventing irritation and discomfort that may be caused by the pouch or clip. The most sought-after accessory was the waterproof Pouch Pocket (not to be confused with a pouch cover) for use in the shower or a shallow bath – keeps your pouch dry while you get wet! Pouch Pockets are also made in soft and sensuous fabrics and stops the "pendulum swing" during sleep and intimacy for both men and women.  Click here to learn more about Weir Comfees.

Beginning October 2003, Shoppers Home Health Care (Cherryhill Village Mall, 301 Oxford Street West, London) will be carrying selected items from the  Weir Comfees line of ostomate apparel and pouch pockets.

Towards the end of the meeting, the 50/50 draw was held. Edith Scheliga (member) held the winning 50/50 ticket and donated her share of the draw back into the "kitty". Thank you, Edith.

The meeting concluded at 9:00 p.m.

After the meeting, Deanna advised Caroline that she would step in and fill the position of Secretary.
