Introduction

Mission Statement

London & District Ostomy Association (LDOA) is a volunteer-based support group dedicated to assisting all persons facing life with intestinal or urinary tract diversions, including their families and caregivers, by providing emotional support, education and information through its visiting program, membership, newsletter and web site.

LDOA Offers

ASSISTANCE in the rehabilitation of anyone with an ostomy by pre-operative and post-operative visitation at the request of the physician, enterostomal therapist (ET) or patient. We provide information, share experiences and give emotional support.

The visitor is chosen according to the patient's age, gender and type of surgery. A visit may be arranged by contacting LDOA's Visitor Co-Ordinator, Cathy McParlan, at  (519) 858-4359 or LDOA's President, Caroline Chiasson, by phone  (519) 643-0124 or fax  (519) 643-0126.

EDUCATION to promote better understanding by the general public and families of people with ostomies.

INFORMATION by way of a bi-monthly newsletter and this web site containing helpful information for ostomates and their families.

MONTHLY  MEETINGS which offer members an opportunity to meet and exchange information and experiences with other persons having an ileostomy, colostomy or urinary diversion. Guest speakers are invited to address the members concerning ostomy-related topics. Getting together helps and encourages ostomates to resume their former activities and to continue to lead fulfilling and productive lives. Visitors are always welcome.
